NEW ORLEANS - Drew Brees has broken the NFL record for yards passing in a season, surpassing a mark that had stood since Dan Marino set it in 1984. Brees topped Marino's record of 5,084 yards with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Darren Sproles on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
Brees entered in the game with 4,780 yards area, need 305 to set the record. He has passed for 300 yards or more an NFL record 12 times in this season with one game still to play. Brees threatened Marino's record once before in 2008, when he finished with 5,069 yards, making him and Marino the only quarterbacks to pass for 5,000.

Amaro beat out runner up Josh Krajcik, a single father whose inspirational story seemed to strike a chord with many fans, and Chris Rene, a 28-year-old singer-rapper from California who overcame drug and alcohol addition through his music.Despite continued prodding from Jones, an overly emotional Amaro couldn't quite formulate words when she was revealed to have captured the most viewer votes, and she struggled through tears to reprise Beyonce's "Listen," the soaring ballad that Amaro crooned at her audition and on Wednesday's final performance round.
When the results were revealed by host Steve Jones, an emotional Amaro repeatedly exclaimed, "Oh my God!" as her family joined her on stage. The teary-eyed Florida native then sang a rendition of Beyonce's "Listen," though she struggled to maintain her composure.Comforted by his mentor L.A Reid, Rene told Jones that he was just pleased to be part of the show. I feel amazing that I got to do this, that I'm here and that God has blessed me with so many opportunities. I just got to say thank you,' he said. With all of the attention Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire will receive, Davis’ play-making and shot-making abilities would be welcome additions for the Knicks. Davis also would work well with Tyson Chandler, throwing lobs to the center or feeding him as he rolls to the basket.
